Dan Slott Spider-Man Reading Order

Although Dan Slott didn’t get me into reading Spider-Man, it is his stories that I’ve read the most, probably because he wrote the most. Starting in January 2008, he started writing with a team on Spider-Man, before becoming solo writer from November 2010, he held this position until 2018 making him a Spider-Man writer for ten years.

You can’t read Spider-Man without reading Dan Slott, his run was just that long. Here you’ll find reading orders of how to get started with Dan Slott from the very beginning and then everything that comes after that.

The easiest and cheapest way is through the trades and collected editions.

Dan Slott’s Spider-Man Trade and Collected Edition Reading Order

Spider-Man/Human Torch

Way before the braintrust, way before big time, Slott penned a five issue Spider-Man/Human Torch miniseries in 2005. You can still get a collected edition which has all five issues.

Brand New Day

We won’t put the Brand New Day issues in the issue by issue reading order because Slott was one of three writers so it wasn’t strictly his run. But, he had a big part to play in this reboot and Big Time didn’t reset this timeline. So, you can look at it as background reading or essential depending on your preference.

Big Time

Dan Slott officially becomes the solo writer on Amazing Spider-Man starting with Big Time.

Big Time Ultimate Collection

This is where it begins in earnest for Slott and Spidey. Annoyingly, the first trade is the “Ultimate Collection” with a 1 on the spine, there was never a volume 2 – instead it becomes complete collection.

Anyway, the first book collects Amazing Spider-Man #648-#668 and #654.1 which includes “The final lesson”, “the sting that never goes away”, “Rebirth”. Slott didn’t write every single issue, he was involved in #648 to #660
